Chelsie & Cas’ Boston Elopement on The Charles River Esplanade
This was a fun one. What started out as a gloomy overcast Fall day turned out to be a picturesque, sunny September Boston afternoon, just in time for Chelsie and Cas to elope in front of family and friends on Boston’s history Charles River Esplanade. I’ve seen people get married on The Esplanade before but this was my first time photographing a wedding or an elopement there.
We began with a first look on the side of the lagoon along the Charles River. The foliage was absolutely perfect. We found a path leading up to a foot bridge over the lagoon which was tucked away from the crowds for Chelsie and Cas to see each other for the first time on their special day. As Cas waited, I met Chelsie further up The Esplanade and took some portraits of her. These were impromptu and some of my favorite photos of the day.
Now, for the first look. The only instructions I give my couples for the first look are to walk up to their partner slowly and tap them on the shoulder, and for the person turning around to make sure they turn towards the camera. After that, it’s your show. The lighting and the foliage for this first look made it look dreamy. Before we made our way over to the ceremony, we took a few minutes for a couples photo session.
The ceremony was short and sweet, and officiated by their friend Dylan. Chelsie and Cas both wrote their own vows. After a quick family and friends portrait session, we had a cake cutting with mini cakes from the local Jonquils Cafe & Bakery. If you’ve never been there or seen these cakes before, they are true works of art. Before taking off for their reception at Remnant Brewing in Cambridge, we took one more lap around The Esplanade for a few more couples photos. The trees along the Charles River were a perfect shade of yellow and absolutely popped against the nice clean tones of Chelsie’s dress and Cas’ suit. Congrats to these two!
